So your thinking of remodeling your bathroom. Well we can help. We will sit down with you and discuss your thoughts and options. We provide a free estimate for materials and labor.
Things we do that others think about, and we recommend:
Is the shower faucet leaking? If so this would be a good time to replace it.
While replacing your shower valve, also think about replacing your shut off valves under the sink and the one at the toilet. By doing this, you can eliminate many small leaking problems down the road.
When adding tile to the bathroom walls, we use and recommend bringing the bathroom walls up to local code. We use “Hardiebacker“. This material is both moisture and mold resistant. We use the 1/2” board on the walls to match up to the existing drywall. Once complete and textured, you can not detect the joint.
We then add a waterproof membrane, we use and recommend “Redgard”. This is a mold and mildew resistant liquid coating applied over the Hardibacker.
When applying your tile, measure twice, we do, it seems to help our clients like the time we take to make it look right.
Next you will want to look at the floors, if you have a crawl space, you may need to remove and replace weak subfloor. Once the subfloor is repaired, we also put a layer or 1/4 “Hardiebacker” on the floor, glued and screwed down. This makes for an excellent substrate for ceramic tile.
